Buying a Kindle changed my life. Too dramatic? Ok, so maybe it had less to do with the Kindle and more with the fact that I gave up some bad habits in exchange for some good ones.
I have always been an avid reader. The kind of girl who would check out five to seven books from the library at a time as a kid (or heck, even the kind of kid that actually went to the library in the first place and enjoyed it.)
Unfortunately, college killed my love of reading, albeit temporarily. Between reading hundreds of pages of textbooks every week and spending all my money on said textbooks, reading for joy was out of the picture.
Then last Christmas, I realized that for the past several years, I spent all my Christmas money on textbooks. And for the past several years, all I really wanted was a Kindle. Just the basic little black Kindle, nothing fancy. So I finally indulged myself and bought one with the sole intention of reading more in 2014.
Needless to say, I have exceeded my goal. Behold, the list of books I have read in 2014:
(Books in bold I reread. Books in italics I am currently reading. Books with an asterisk are real paperback books.)
The Great Gatsby
Lolita (I read this for the first time this year, then immediately reread it)
The Divergent Series: Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant
The Fault in Our Stars
The Giver
Slaughterhouse-Five
George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones (On the second book right now)
His Dark Materials Omnibus: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass (This will be the fourth time I have read this series. Highly recommend)
Ender’s Game*
Ender’s Shadow*
